Next Meeting - April 11

Our next meeting April 11 from 9:00 AM-12:30 PM.

I expect some new faces and we will cover some topics (like safety) from our last meeting and get into some new territory. If you have not registered for 4H through your home club please let me know as the paperwork is due today April 1. If you have an interest in competing in the country 4-H judging we need to get you signed up. However if you do not have an interest there is no hurry.

See you all on April 11 and be sure to check out our blog.

I can’t make it to the first meeting?

If you can't make it to the first meeting, no problem. The first meeting is primarily organizational, with some demonstration. We will get you caught up at the next meeting.

Our tentative schedule includes meeting on April 11 & 18, May 9 & 23 and June 6. We may also schedule additional ‘project days’ in June to work on projects for those who wish to present at the Franklin County Fair.

What do I need to bring?

You don’t need to bring anything! At the first meeting we will go over all the details about equipment, manuals and materials. The good news is that all the metal materials and welding machines are donated and ready for our use by Hamilton Tank of Columbus and Lincoln Electric Company of Cleveland. Once we start welding you are welcome to borrow safety equipment from the lab as it is fully stocked with all sizes. If you wish to purchase your own equipment we will provide you with details on those items.

First meeting Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 9:00 AM

The Franklin County 4-H Welding Club will have their first meeting March 21, 2009 from 9 AM to 1 PM. We will be meeting at the Agricultural Engineering Building on the Campus of The Ohio State University. The club is open to any youth in Franklin County that wants to learn to work with metals and weld. We will be using the 4-H Arcs and Sparks manual. More details to follow.
